Hello, my name is Duane Weed, your host and producer, and I’m thankful for all of you who tune in each week to learn more about our amazing county. Personally, I’m thankful for my health… even if the ol’ check-engine light is starting to flicker on a little more these days.

I’m thankful for my family, for the opportunity to work with young people as a Digital Arts instructor at the Montcalm Area Career Center, and for 41 years of creating media at DWVideo.com. I’m grateful I can still sit behind the drum kit, play the music I love, and worship my faith in God freely.

Montcalm Local Thankfuls For in 2025

I also did a little Google—and yes, even an AI—search to see what others are thankful for. Health tops the list, of course, along with family and friends who keep us grounded. Many people are grateful for the strength of their small communities: neighbors helping neighbors, local businesses working hard, and organizations that step up when it matters most.

People are appreciating steady work, new opportunities, and the comfort of simply having a place to call home. We’re thankful for the technology that keeps us connected, the natural beauty that surrounds our county, and all those everyday moments of joy we usually zoom right past.
