Discover Lakeview: The Village on the Water
Nestled along the shores of the beautiful Tamarack Lake, Lakeview is a vibrant community that perfectly balances outdoor recreation with a thriving downtown district. As a key destination in northern Montcalm County, Lakeview serves as a scenic retreat for visitors and a proud home for generations of local families.
A Brief History of Lakeview
Lakeview was platted in 1867 by Albert French, a visionary who saw the potential in the area’s dense pine forests and the natural beauty of the water. Originally a lumbering town, Lakeview was home to several massive sawmills that processed the timber floated across Tamarack Lake.
When the timber era ended, Lakeview reinvented itself as a resort destination and an agricultural hub. The arrival of the railroad in 1879 solidified its status as a center for commerce. Today, the village is famous for its Summerfest and its commitment to preserving the “lakeside lifestyle” while fostering modern business growth.
