Cancer changes lives in an instant. For Jenny Town and her daughter Bree Teegardin, what started as an ordinary day at a track meet became a life-changing journey that would test their family, their faith, and their resilience.

On this episode of the Discover Montcalm Podcast, Jenny and Bree share their remarkable story of battling childhood leukemia, enduring a bone marrow transplant, overcoming life-threatening complications, and ultimately finding hope through one of the most difficult experiences imaginable. Cancer Survivor – Bree was only eight

Bree was only eight years old when doctors discovered she had leukemia. What followed were months in the hospital, chemotherapy treatments, and years of uncertainty. Despite the challenges, Bree found strength through the support of family, friends, teachers, medical professionals, and the Montcalm County community.

The journey became even more difficult when the cancer returned, requiring a bone marrow transplant and extensive recovery. Along the way, Bree faced numerous medical complications, including relearning how to walk and managing long-term effects of treatment.

Yet through every setback, hope remained.

Cancer Survivor – Community Support

Jenny shares how community support made a tremendous difference. From meals delivered to their home, to prayers, encouragement, and simple acts of kindness, the Town family experienced firsthand the power of people coming together during a crisis.

Today, Bree continues to inspire others with her courage and determination. Her story serves as a reminder that even during life’s darkest moments, hope can be found through faith, family, friendship, and community support.
