Discover Sheridan: The Heart of Central Montcalm
Situated along the busy M-66 corridor, the Village of Sheridan is a classic Michigan community where history meets modern hometown pride. Serving as a central hub for the surrounding townships, Sheridan is known for its strong school spirit, beautiful Pearl Lake, and its deep agricultural roots.
A Brief History of Sheridan
Sheridan’s story began in the mid-1800s, officially incorporating in 1867. The village was named after the Civil War General Philip Sheridan. Like many of its neighbors, it flourished thanks to the timber industry and the arrival of the railroad.
As the white pine disappeared, Sheridan successfully transitioned into a thriving agricultural center. Today, it remains a key residential area for those working in Stanton, Greenville, and Ionia, offering a high quality of life with a small-town pace.
