From Carson City to the Classroom

Growing up in Carson City, Michigan, and graduating from Oakfield Baptist Academy in Greenville, Michael developed a passion for history, government, and economics. After earning his degree at Cedarville University and his master’s in special education from Grand Valley State University, he spent years as a dedicated educator in Grand Rapids Public Schools and Greenville Public Schools.

In addition to teaching, Michael became a familiar face across Montcalm County as “DJ Tharp,” working local school events and community gatherings. However, when the 2020 pandemic disrupted public education, Michael made a pivotal decision to retire from traditional teaching at age 40 and transition fully into online entrepreneurship and financial education.

Understanding “Real Money” vs. Currency

Michael’s passion centers on educating others about the fundamental difference between government-issued fiat currency and real money—specifically physical silver, gold, and decentralized digital assets like Bitcoin.

Reflecting on American economic history—from the Coinage Act of 1873 and the historic 1896 presidential election to Richard Nixon closing the gold window in 1971—Michael explains how unbacked currency printing fuels inflation and erodes purchasing power for working families. His philosophy focuses on consistent, long-term wealth preservation (“stacking silver”) rather than get-rich-quick schemes.

Mindset, Gratitude, and “Embracing the Pain”

Drawing inspiration from teachers like Neville Goddard and Richard Rohr, Michael emphasizes that personal transformation starts with perspective. Rather than focusing on economic uncertainty or media negativity, he encourages individuals to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset, leverage modern AI tools, and develop deep gratitude.
