Trufant established in 1871 by Emery Trufant

Originally established in 1871 by Emery Trufant, the community grew from a humble post office and sawmill into a bustling lumber hub and agriculture center. From historic landmarks like the VBS Hall to famous local icons like the weekly Thursday Flea Market and the town’s designation as the “Stump Fence Capital of the World,” Trufant has always maintained a tight-knit, proud identity.

Trufant Area Hometown Heroes project

Inspired by a similar veteran banner initiative in nearby Morley, Army veteran Victoria Maguire and her husband Greg set out to create a lasting tribute for local service members. The Trufant Area Hometown Heroes project honors community members who have served in the United States Armed Forces, spanning all branches and tracing history as far back as the Civil War.

With support from local sponsors like CSM Laser Engraving, Business Growth Engine, and La Cocina Mexican Grill, the ongoing project collects photos, military records, and service details to showcase the brave individuals who call the Trufant area home.
